Reflections on My Year to SOAR!

As 2017 is winding down, I’m reflecting on some of the highlights that God allowed me to experience. My “one word” for this year was SOAR! What a year it’s been!

It started out with launching my third book Crossing Your Jordan River: How to Possess and Prosper in Your Promised Land in March. What a blessing it was to release that book!

The following month, I got to host my very first women’s conference. Glory! I’m so grateful to all the women who came to Abounding Faith’s SOAR Women’s Conference.

In the fall, I got to host my very first Abounding Faith Book Social where we had a group discussion about how to wait on God well.

I also had the pleasure of leading the service for my friends at Central Delaware Trinity Covenant for the third straight year.

The Lord allowed me to speak at Nyack College’s Chapel service. What an honor! I had felt drawn to Nyack for about two years.

This was also the year that my books started being sold at Pipe and Thimble bookstore in Lomita, California, and I was even part of a small group that studied Crossing Your Jordan River.

Some of my designs were featured in a Christian women’s magazine in France.

I got to celebrate my birthday in a castle for the third straight year. And I got to visit Carnegie Hall and the offices of Simon and Schuster twice and connected with more of my Times Square Church family throughout the year.

God is Good!

It wasn’t a perfect year, but God did allow me to SOAR! And the year isn’t over just yet!

I’m already praying and preparing for what’s ahead in 2018. I’m getting ready to share a draft of Book 4 with my early readers to start getting feedback. I hope to release Book 4 and to host a few more events next year.  Let’s see how the Lord leads.

I appreciate your prayers, and I’m grateful that you’re on this faith journey with me! I invite you to stay connected with Abounding Faith on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. I look forward to continuing to encourage you to live your God-Given Dreams!

Here’s another look at some of my lovely readers from this year:

I pray you have a blessed Christmas and that you enjoy God’s presence more than all the presents. All the best to you and yours!

“Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” (Luke 1:45).

Chapel in the City at Nyack College

I have felt drawn to Nyack College for a few years now. The Lord saw it fit for me to speak at the chapel service on Tuesday evening. What a blessing! It was truly another God-given dream that came to pass in His perfect timing. All glory to God!

What a sweet surprise to see the announcement on the screen pictured above! I had to snap a pic.

I’m so grateful to the staff and students at Nyack who made me feel so welcome.

I don’t normally go out on Halloween evening, but this was worth it.  And since the attack in Tribeca was just blocks away from where we were, I’m glad we got to pray for New York during chapel time.

It was a privilege and honor to get to encourage these students who are seeking after God’s plan for their life at such a young age. Here are just some of the students that were in chapel Tuesday evening.

Speaking at Nyack College ranks right up there with speaking to the group of Christians working at the United Nations and giving my brief testimony at Times Square Church. I am delighted with the doors the Lord is opening for me in this season. I’m so grateful that God opens doors that no man can shut!

Honestly, it’s an honor to get to speak about the Lord out on the street, in the subway, on the mission field,  in nursing homes and shelters, as well as one-on-one with strangers and friends.

We’re called to let our light shine! “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Mathew 5:16)

Who will you share the gospel with today or this week at work, home, school or in your neighborhood? We all have a testimony to share about God’s amazing love and His faithfulness! You don’t need a microphone, pulpit or stage. Just pray and ask God to give you the right words to say with love.

Blessings to you as you go about doing the good works that God has ordained for you to do! And thanks for your prayers and encouragement! I look forward to walking through many more doors that God opens for me. Thanks for staying on this journey with me!

Roctober 2017 Reflections

What a blessing this Roctober has been! There have been some ups and downs, but overall it was another rocking October, thank God!

I’m so grateful to my family and friends who help to make this month so special! This month included a trip back to my birthday castle as well as flowers, a ferry ride around Manhattan, mariachi singers, cake and the non-alcoholic pina colada pictured above.

I also got to go back and lead the service at Central Delaware Trinity Covenant. It was sweet seeing my friends there and getting to do everything from choosing the bulletin cover, to choosing the songs, preaching the sermon and greeting folks on the way out. It’s still surreal to see my name outside one of their church buildings. God is Good!

Although this was my third time visiting this congregation, it was my first time at this particular church building so I was thrilled to see horses right across the street! This city girl loves horses! It was another special birthday gift from the Lord.

We also wrapped up the study of Crossing Your Jordan River. It’s been such a blessing to see and hear how the book encouraged this group. We celebrated with yummy food and this beautiful birthday fruit tart!

Amid the celebrations, I’ve also had some really productive meetings throughout the month and still have one very important speaking engagement. I look forward to sharing more about that soon.

In the meantime, thank you for your prayers and encouragement. I pray you are seeing God’s fingerprints in your life! If you’d like more encouragement in between blog posts, please make sure to follow Abounding Faith on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

If you’d like another look at the “God’s Princess Diaries” series that I shot during my first visit to my birthday castle, you can find the short and encouraging videos on Abounding Faith’s YouTube channel by clicking here.

Blessings!

Reflections on Abounding Faith’s 1st Book Social!

I’m so grateful to God that Abounding Faith’s very 1st Book Social was such a blessing! We had such a sweet time of fellowship. The guests told me their favorite part of the event was the discussion time when they got to hear others share about their experiences related to the topic of Waiting on God Well.

I’m delighted that the event was a safe place where people could share their thoughts and encourage one another! That was my hope for this event. It was sweet to interact with my readers during the group discussion and to share a short encouraging word with them.

I appreciate all the help from my wonderful volunteers pictured below. My Mom was also a tremendous help, as usual! Many thanks to my friends at Open Bible Church International for once again opening up their doors to us.

We not only had a great group discussion and prayer time, but there were also special giveaways for guests. I’m grateful to my friends and Our Daily Bread for providing the Hope devotionals and my friends at TBN NY for providing the books pictured below.

Abounding Faith’s Book Social also included yummy treats and a chance to buy signed copies of Waiting on God Well, Abounding Faith and Crossing Your Jordan River.

This was the third and most likely the final event I’m hosting this year, but fret not! I’m already praying and planning for next year. I’m looking forward to having more Book Socials, so please stay tuned!

Did you know that you can host your own Abounding Faith Book Social with your friends, church, small group, women’s ministry or book club? You can get all the info by clicking here.

Whether you read Waiting on God Well, Abounding Faith and Crossing Your Jordan River (available on Amazon) on your own or with a group, I pray you’re blessed and encouraged to trust God and to live your God-given dreams! God is Faithful!

  • Waiting on God Well is a good and simple read with excellent scriptural references/meditation and (my favorite), the action steps. They’re so HELPFUL! I feel that women, men or anyone who’s willing to seek God’s guidance can benefit from you book.” – Manni Lee, Associate Executive Director, Women of Wonder (WOW)
  • Waiting on God Well gave me time to address a deep prayer request of my heart I had sort of ‘buried.” I took your book on a plane trip, underlined and prayed my way thru, even journaling some. Thank you for your encouragement!” – Anonymous

3 Bible Verses About Kindness

I’m continuing my series based on the Fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

This month I’m focusing on the fruit of kindness. The Bible is filled with examples of people being kind to one another. There is David being kind to his late friend Jonathan’s son Mephibosheth by restoring his family’s land to him and giving him a seat at his banquet table (2 Samuel 9:7). Boaz was kind to Ruth by providing her a safe place to glean grain and giving her extra provision for her and her mother-in-law Naomi, who were both widows at the time (Ruth 2:8-23).

Jesus described what it looks like to love your neighbor and to be kind to them by sharing the parable of the good Samaritan who stopped to help the Jewish man who was left half dead by robbers on the road to Jericho. Although Jews and Samaritans despised each other, the Samaritan in Jesus’ parable bandaged the Jewish man’s wounds, took him to an inn and cared for him and paid the innkeeper to look after the wounded man until the kind Samaritan returned from his trip  (Luke 10:25-35).

What a powerful lesson on being kind even to your enemies!

Kindness is contagious. Ever get inspired by seeing someone hold the door open for a stranger or seeing someone pay a stranger’s bill at the register?

Kindness doesn’t have to cost a thing. A smile, a warm greeting and saying thank you are all great ways to be kind.

Kindness can leave a lasting impression on a person. Think back to when someone visited you when you were ill, shared an encouraging word with you or took time to pray for you. How did that make you feel?

We can sometimes be in such a rush or be so absorbed in our own lives and problems that we forget to be kind to those we encounter throughout our day.

As Christians, we’re called to be kind. Thankfully, we have the Holy Spirit living inside of us and He can give us the strength and grace to be kind and gentle to those we cross paths with in our busy lives.

Here are a few verses to encourage you as you go about being kind to others:

  • “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32)
  • “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35)
  • “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” (Colossians 3:12-14)

Today is a great day to start being more kind!

What intentional acts of kindness can you perform this week? Is there someone you could call, write or visit? Is there someone you can bless by treating them to a meal, watching their kids or running an errand for them?

I’d love to hear about some of your acts of kindness! Be sure to share them in the comments below. Blessings!
