3 Bible Verses About Patience!

I’m continuing my series based on the Fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

I have to admit that patience, or forbearance, is still not my favorite Fruit of the Spirit. I’ve gotten much better with waiting on God over the years, but it can still be struggle.

How about you? Are you waiting for a breakthrough in your finances, health, or personal life?

We’re all waiting on God for something, so it’s important how we wait.

I’m grateful for the Holy Spirit’s supernatural patience that helps us as we wait with expectancy for God to move in our lives and to fulfill His promises to us.

In my book Waiting on God Well: How to Prevent Breaking Down on Your Way to Your Breakthrough I share insights I’ve learned while waiting as well as encouraging Bible verses, actions steps, and reflection questions to help you during your season of waiting.

Here are just 3 Bible verses to help you during your waiting season:

  • “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” (Psalm 27:13-14)
  • “He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.'” (Psalm 46:10)
  • “And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.” (Hebrews 6:15)

There’s no short cut to becoming a patient person. It comes with much prayer, surrender to God’s timing, much practice with having patience with people, and with trusting that God is faithful and that He will see you through!

Waiting on God isn’t easy, but it is worth it! Blessings to you as you patiently wait in faith for God to move in your life as He has promised in the Bible and to your heart!

Crossing Your Jordan River Book – Update!

I’d like to take a moment to thank all of my Crossing Your Jordan River readers and to share about some of the doors the Lord is opening for my trio of books.

I’m delighted to share that pre-signed copies of Crossing Your Jordan River, Waiting on God Well, and Abounding Faith are now available in a bookstore that just opened in Lomita, CA. It’s a blessing to know that my books are on the West Coast. Glory to God! I hope you’ll tell your California friends about Pipe & Thimble Bookstore. If you swing by the store, I’d love to see pics!

I’m also excited to share that a few of my local friends are going to start studying Crossing Your Jordan River tonight. God is so Good! I’m honored and humbled. As I’m writing my books, I’m never quite sure who is going to read them. And when I’m writing the questions at the end of each chapter, I can envision groups studying the books together but I never know who will be in those groups. I’m grateful that I get to join my friends as they launch out on their faith journey together.

I’m also touched to know that my friends at Woodcrest Nursing Home and Rehab center are also studying Crossing Your Jordan River.

As you can tell, my readers are special to me. I love seeing photos of my readers. Here are just a few:

If my books have been a blessing to you, please feel free to snap a pic with your book and email it to me at info@AboundingFaith.com or post it on Abounding Faith’s Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram page. Kind and short Amazon reviews are also always appreciated.

I look forward to sharing more updates with you! Please stay tuned for more info about Abounding Faith’s fall event(s).

In the meantime, be sure to pick up copies of Crossing Your Jordan River, Waiting on God Well, and Abounding Faith in print or on Kindle on Amazon and tell your friends and small group or book club members about the trio. Once you all have your copies, why not consider hosting an Abounding Faith Book Social this summer? You can learn more about Abounding Faith Book Socials here.

Thanks for all of your support and encouragement! Blessings to you as you dare to live your God-given dreams and wait on God to fulfill His promises to you!

Reflections on Abounding Faith’s SOAR Women’s Conference!

God did it again! He gave me a dream/desire and then let me live that dream! He placed the word SOAR in my heart as a theme for this year, and He gave me the desire to have a women’s conference. After much praying and planning, the day finally arrived.

I’m so grateful to all the women who came to my very first women’s conference on Saturday! They were all so gracious and encouraging. We had a lovely time of fellowship, learning about God-given dreams, and praying and sharing some of those dreams.

I’m so touched by the feedback the ladies shared with me!  Here’s what one of the guests said was the best part of the conference for her:

“I was encouraged to pray and seek God for my life’s purpose.”

Wow, that statement alone is priceless and means my mission for this conference was accomplished!

Here’s a quick video from another guest. Priscilla is one of the leaders of Queens, NY AGLOW.

Here are a few pics with highlights from Saturday’s conference held at Open Bible Church International:

Here are some of the audacious dreamers & doers who wrote their dreams on our Dream Wall. (Inspired by Missions.Me and the Dream Walls our teams got to do with school kids on missions trips to Honduras and Peru).

The ladies were already asking about my next conference. Praise God!

I’m already praying about possibly having a co-ed conference in the fall. I hope you’re getting my monthly updates so you won’t miss any news.  If you’d like to be added to my mailing list, please email me at info@aboundingfaith.com.

I’d also love to come speak at your event! You can learn more about inviting me to come speak to your group here.

I’m grateful to my loving family, my fabulous volunteers, and my generous sponsors for all their support and encouragement.

A special thank you to my friends at Our Daily Bread and TBN NY for providing prizes and giveaways for my guests.

Here is a short video recap I shot after the conference:God is moving. I’m excited! Thanks for staying on this faith journey with me!

I pray you will be inspired to live your God-given dreams! God is Good and God loves YOU! Blessings!

A Taste of New Book Crossing Your Jordan River

I’m delighted to share the introduction to my third book Crossing Your Jordan River: How to Possess and Prosper in Your Promised Land! I pray it encourages you. You can get your copy in print or on Kindle on Amazon. Kind and short reviews are always appreciated! Blessings!

I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. (Joshua 1:3)

Anyone who knows me really well has gotten at least one email from me where I’ve finished the message by signing my first name as well as “Joshua.”

There must have been something about Joshua’s courage that caught my attention. When I was asked to co-lead and launch an Adult Bible Fellowship group for the young adults at my home church at the time, I boldly chose the name Joshua Generation.Anyone who knows me really well has gotten at least one email from me where I’ve finished the message by signing my first name as well as “Joshua.”

I’m not sure when I started looking up to Joshua, the heroic leader from the Bible. I don’t recall hearing about him while I was growing up. As an adult, my senior pastor of more than a decade did preach quite often about Joshua and how he bravely led the Israelites across the Jordan River and into the Promised Land.

Joshua’s story fascinates me. He served as a trusted aide to the one and only Moses. Joshua was among the 12 leaders that Moses sent as spies to explore Canaan. He and Caleb were the only two men who came back with an encouraging report. They believed God would give them the victory over their enemies, but the Israelites refused to believe them and wanted to stone Joshua and Caleb. As a result of their unbelief and rebellion against God, the Israelites had to wander around the wilderness for forty years. Joshua and Caleb were the only ones from their generation to survive. Amazingly, God handpicked Joshua as Moses’ successor!

Joshua had the extreme honor of leading God’s people across the Jordan River on dry ground, and he got to live in the Promised Land. Glory!

I love how, after a long wait, God came through for Joshua!

I humbly say that when I read most of Joshua 1, I feel like God is speaking directly to me. I’ve read Joshua 1 over and over again throughout the years. That first chapter always helps to fuel my faith.

The Lord burned Joshua 1:3 (see previous page) in my heart during my visit to Israel in 2007. I was a bit scared to travel to the Holy Land with my mom. News reports never make Israel sound like a prime vacation destination. After much prayer, we had peace about going. That trip was a life-changing adventure. The Bible came to life in 3-D. I am still in awe of having the privilege of walking where Jesus walked and ministered. I came back knowing that if God could protect me while in Israel, He could keep me safe wherever I traveled in the world. It was during that trip that I felt the call to evangelism on my life.

A few years later when it was time to go to Africa on a short-term missions trip to Ethiopia, I was again scared, and once more the Lord used verses from Joshua to calm my fears. I stood on the promises in verse 9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

God had a woman from my church quote that verse to me while praying for my trip, and He even had my young niece recite that verse to me, and my little nephew sing a song about Joshua 1:9 to me during our video call just days before my departure. Ah, I love it when God speaks to me in surround sound!

Joshua 1:3 and 1:9 also give me boldness whenever I go on evangelism outreaches or step out in faith in different areas of my life.

I share all this because Joshua is a friend from the Bible who is near and dear to my heart. I’m always encouraged by his story in the Old Testament. I pray that you are inspired too.

I’ve mentioned parts of Joshua’s story in my books Waiting on God Well: How to Prevent Breaking Down on Your Way to Your Breakthrough and Abounding Faith: 30 Bible Heroes Who Will Inspire You to Believe God for the Impossible!

I guess it’s no surprise that I would choose his life as the backdrop for this book. I’m going to be sharing lessons from Joshua’s life to help you cross your Jordan River, face the walls of Jericho in your life, and enter into your land flowing with milk and honey so you can prosper in your Promised Land.

I’ll also be sharing updates about my faith journey and insights I’ve learned since writing my first two books.

Joshua went from being Moses’ assistant to being a victorious warrior who valiantly led the Israelites to possess their inheritance. How did he do it? How can we live victorious Christian lives?

Joshua’s success didn’t happen instantly. God took His time preparing Joshua. God will take His time preparing you for the blessings He has for you and the call that He has placed on your life.

What would have happened if Joshua would have given in to despair during those forty years of wandering in the wilderness? What will happen if you give up on your journey?

God proved faithful to Joshua. And God will be faithful to you.

Don’t stop short of your Promised Land! I pray this book will give you keys to help you step into your God-given passion and purpose so you can experience the abundant life that Jesus promised you (John 10:10) and live your God-given dreams!

Blessings to you as you take one step of faith at a time and triumphantly cross over into the next chapter of your life! Then you can rejoice like Joshua did at the end of his life and declare, “You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed” (Joshua 23:14).

3 Bible Verses About Peace

I’m continuing my series based on the Fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

Each month, I’ll pick a fruit and share a few thoughts and verses about it.

I’m focusing on the fruit of joy this month.

My late Pastor of more than a decade used to share a story about a painting of a bird that was on a tree branch singing. There’s nothing extraordinary about a singing bird. That’s what they do all the time, right?

When it’s bright and sunny outside, you can hear the beautiful sound of birds chirping away.

But that wasn’t the scene in the painting. What made this painting so memorable is that the bird was singing away as a storm raged all around it.

That, my friend, is a picture of peace!

It’s natural to feel peace when you’re lying on the beach or on vacation somewhere. It’s supernatural to feel peace when all hell is breaking loose around you.

How can Christians stay at peace despite the winds and the waves howling around them?

That comes through the Holy Spirit living inside of us! It’s not our ordinary peace that sustains us, but His extraordinary peace that helps us through whatever storm or trial we are facing.

Here are 3 Bible verses I hope will encourage you as you meditate on them, believe them, and apply them to your life:

  • “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27)
  • “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
  • “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” (Isaiah 26:3)

God is not surprised or unaware of what you are going through. Be at peace knowing that God Almighty is powerful enough to keep you and guard you no matter what struggle you are going through. He will see you through!

Reflections on Crossing Your Jordan River’s Book Launch Event

After all the writing, editing, and production deadlines are done, it’s always a blessing to get to celebrate the launch of a new book with family and friends!

I’m so grateful to everyone who helped me celebrate the release of Crossing Your Jordan River: How to Possess and Prosper in Your Promised Land (available on Amazon).

Looking at these pictures makes me smile!

I’m so touched that these friends would come and support what God is doing in and through my life! Many of them have come to several of my events. I appreciate all their encouragement!

I’m grateful to my wonderful volunteers and to Open Bible Church International for once again opening their doors for one of my events!

Here are a few more pics from Saturday’s event. The third shot is of some of the mugs, journals, and tote bags found exclusively at Abounding Faith’s online store.

I pray that those who attend my events (including my upcoming women’s conference)  and those who read my books are inspired and encouraged to follow God with their whole hearts and to trust Him to lead and guide them.

I’m looking forward to hearing your feedback about my third book.

If Crossing Your Jordan River blesses you, I hope you will take a moment to leave a short and kind review on Amazon.

Blessings to you as you face the walls of Jericho in your life and cross your Jordan River into your Promised Land!
