Happy Roctober 2023 – Rejoicing & Celebrating Some Birthday Fun

My birthday is this month, so I’m having same Roctober fun. Enjoy these birthday-themed posts I’m sharing on social media.

A journaler turned journalist turned author was born this month šŸŽ‰

Iā€™m about 3 months old in the picture on the left (above).

Iā€™m around 1 years old in the pic on the right where Iā€™m scribbling. My Mom took this shot. Itā€™s the first and one of the only pics of me āœļøāœļøāœļø

The rest are for a special occasion and just ordinary days šŸ‘‘šŸ˜Ž)

Three Cheers with Lemonade for this Monthā€™s Birthday Girl šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸ’ƒšŸ’ƒšŸ’ƒCelebrating My Dear Dad: Roctober Edition: This pic “happened” to come up as a memory recently and it made me smile. We were actually celebrating my bday with mi familia in this pic. My Dad LOVED celebrating our birthdays and in later years got a kick out of saying “Happy Birth Month” to me. LOL We’d celebrate at the beginning and end of the month and sometimes in betweenšŸ˜€ My Dad reveled in family, food and fiestas. My birthdays started out with McDonald’s parties and somewhere around my teen years I would be MORTIFIED when mariachis would pop out of nowhere at the restaurants. As an adult, I learned to appreciate the mariachis more. LOL Aww, rejoicing in celebrating the birth of his second daughter… That’s My Dad šŸ’–

September Reflections & Our Daily Bread Writing Update

Welcome to fall! I enjoy this weather and entering a new season.

I also tend to start getting nostalgic around this time of the year. September is the anniversary of when God chased me down in Sydney Australia. I’ve written about Sydney in my books and a few articles. I’m also writing about it in my upcoming book God-Given Dreams (NavPress/Tyndale Alliance, releasing March 5, 2024).

This September marks my 7th year attending Times Square Church in person and online. What a blessing!

This month also marks nine years since I won Our Daily Bread‘s Writing Contest for Readers in September 2014. You can read more about my connection to Our Daily Bread in this blog post.

As I look back and reflect, I’m grateful for how God has blessed me and seen me through.

As I look ahead, I’d like to share an update to my announcement in this blog post about becoming an author for Our Daily Bread‘s main devotional.

I’m rejoicing (my One Word for this year) that this past summer included a lot of writing including many articles for Our Daily Bread’s main devotional booklet. God willing, my first articles for Our Daily Bread‘s devotional will be published in May 2024. Please mark your calendars.

I’ll definitely share more updates as we get closer to next May, but I wanted to share the great news now.

You can usually find the printed Our Daily Bread devotionals in churches, Christian schools, hospitals, etc. You can also sign up to have the devotionals mailed to you or find the entries online and on their app. You can learn more about all the different ways you can access the devotionals and all the different languages and countries they’re available in on their website ODB.org.

I appreciate your prayers and support as I live out this God-given dream!
