Abounding Faith on TV

I recently had the pleasure of being invited by Pastor Luis Ortiz of Ebenezer Productions to talk about my books Waiting on God Well and Abounding Faith on his TV show. The interview aired live in Brooklyn and on Facebook Live. The above video is the Facebook Live version. I pray that what I shared in the video blesses you! I plan to share the fancier version of the video as soon as it’s ready.

Here’s a pic of me in the studio after the video was shot.

As a writer, I’m more comfortable being behind-the-scenes but the Lord gives me the grace and courage to speak about Him in different settings including on live TV. All Glory to God!

I plan to keep speaking and writing as long as the Lord keeps giving me something to say!

If this video encourages you, please leave a comment here or on the video. I’d love to hear your thoughts! Blessings to you as you Wait on God Well and live by Abounding Faith!

Living by Abounding Faith – Update!

1 year collage

It’s been a year since I took the leap of faith and left my full-time job to focus on writing, speaking, life coaching, hosting events, and starting Abounding Faith’s online store.

What a year it’s been! God is Faithful!

Has the year been easy? Nope! Has it been worth it? Absolutely!

I could not have made it through this year without the support of my loving family and friends! You know who you are! Thank you for being there to listen to me, rejoice with me, and to offer guidance along the way! Thank you for believing in me and praying for me and thanks for your moral and financial support!

I am in awe of what God is doing in me and through me. My goal is to continue to live out the call God has placed on my life to communicate Christ through writing and speaking. I hope to continue to share God’s love with those who are hurting, lost, or discouraged. I want to encourage and empower men and women to grow in their faith in God and to live the abundant life Jesus promised in John 10:10!

I look forward to continuing to encourage you to Wait on God Well, live your God-given dreams, and believe God for the impossible!

I’m grateful to my readers and online community! I’m touched that you are being blessed by my writing and speaking and that you are telling others! I appreciate how you are helping to spread the word about my books, online store items, and events, etc.

I’m delighted by the ministry partners the Lord has connected me with in this season. They include my friends at Queens NY AGLOW, WOW! Women of Wonder, Heidi Jensen author of the Eyes to See, Ears to Hear curriculum, Chaplain Jamary of Woodcrest Nursing Home, Pastor Gary Fishman, and Pastor Luis Ortiz of Ebenezer Productions.

Partner 2016 Collage

These women and men have been a source of great encouragement for me during this past year in particular! I’m blessed to co-labor with them to do Kingdom work!

What’s ahead for Abounding Faith? I’m praying about it, but God willing it includes more writing and events and continuing to grow my online community. I’m also looking to expand my network of partners so stay tuned!

When you think of me, please pray! Thank you in advance! I look forward to having much more wonderful news to share! All for the glory of God!

If you’re looking for ways to show your support for Abounding Faith, here are a few ideas to consider:

Reflections on Abounding Faith Live

I’m so touched by everyone who braved the stormy weather to be part of my very first Abounding Faith Live event! God placed the idea for this event in my heart awhile ago. It was so special to get to live out this part of the dream!

I’m grateful to my friends at Queens NY AGLOW for partnering with me and Open Bible Church Int’l for allowing us to use their beautiful church!

What a blessing it was to have this father and daughter duo of Orisi and Tabitha Rabukawaqa lead us during the worship time!

My hope is that those who attended the event were inspired to believe God for the impossible! I pray that folks were blessed during the time of worship, prayer, and fellowship afterwards!

I also pray that readers are inspired by my new book Abounding Faith: 30 Bible Heroes Who Will Inspire You to Believe God for the Impossible!

God willing, I plan to have more Abounding Faith Live events. If you are interested in hosting an Abounding Faith Live event, please email Info@AboundingFaith.com. Blessings!

Announcing Abounding Faith Live

Abounding Faith Live NO ADDRESS

I’m excited to share that I will be hosting my very first Abounding Faith Live event on May 14! I hope that everyone who comes will be inspired to believe God for the impossible!

I’m delighted to be partnering with my friends at Queens NY Aglow. I’m looking forward to sharing an encouraging word and spending time with you in prayer, praise, and fellowship! If you are in the NYC area, I hope you can join me. All are welcome! Light refreshments will be served. For more info, please email Info@AboundingFaith.com.

So why is an introvert like me hosting events? Because I believe the Lord is calling me to speak and write for His glory!

This decision is similar to hopping on a plane to go on missions trips to the Amazon in Brazil, the Andes in Ecuador, the slums of Ethiopia, and the streets of Honduras and Peru. It’s similar to leading outreaches in NYC and having the courage to share my thoughts on this blog and in my books.

When God says it’s time to go on an adventure with Him, it’s time.

I feel blessed to be in this season of sharing the Good News of the Gospel with hurting people and encouraging believers in their faith!

I’m touched by those who have come alongside of me and are supporting me with their prayers and encouraging words!

It’s a blessing to get to share some of this journey with you right here on this blog. I hope my story encourages you to Pray, Dream, Do, Repeat!

Has God placed a dream in your heart? If God is for you, who can be against you? (Romans 8:31)

Many blessings to you as you run the race that God has for you, and keep your eyes on Jesus until you cross your finish line!

Reflections on an Epic Year!

Epic Year Collage USE

As 2015 is winding down, I’m taking a moment to reflect on what an amazing and blessed year I’ve had! It started out with my book launch for Waiting on God Well and my epic adventure throughout Europe!

It included leaving my full-time job to take faith step after faith step to walk out God’s call on my life and to focus on writing, speaking, life coaching, and creating an online store!

Along the way, I spent time with wonderful readers, was interviewed on TV, and got to meet Luis Palau again and T.D. Jakes!

I entered the world of Twitter and now have 500 followers! I also posted my 50th encouraging, short video on my YouTube Channel, and joined Instagram.

I even celebrated my birthday in a castle! I am in awe of all the Lord has allowed me to experience this year.

But before you think that an epic year equals an easy year, let me share that much of these breakthroughs I’ve had are a result of much prayer, waiting, and obeying God. There have been challenges and obstacles and more testing of my faith and patience this year, but despite all of that I choose to count my blessings and rejoice!

I’m grateful for all of your prayers and support! I pray that when you look back on your year, you will smile as well. And if it’s been more thorns than roses this year, I’d like to encourage you to say, “Hallelujah” anyway. Praise the Lord for who He is. Praise Him for what’s He’s done. Praise Him by faith for what He’s going to do!

Don’t let discouragement stop you in the middle of your story! Keep moving forward. Finish the year strong. Enjoy today. And even now, start praying and preparing for 2016.

When you think of me, please pray for me as I continue to plan for what’s next. Walking by faith isn’t easy, but it’s worth it! Amen?

Here’s a short video with more info about Abounding Faith’s new online store! Blessings!

Remove the Limits From God

The above video is very special to me because it’s the final video I shot on the last day of my Epic European Adventure! That day I woke up in Amsterdam, had lunch in Bruge, Belgium, and then crossed the English Channel on a ferry from France to London. It was an extraordinary and fitting way to end the trip.

There are so many reasons why I call this trip Epic. For starters, it was a tour of many of the major European cities including Paris, Venice, Florence, Amsterdam, parts of Switzerland, and Munich. It even included lunch in Austria one day. And on my way to and from the meeting city of London I even had layovers in Ireland. So that alone is Amazing! God blessed me and protected me in all those countries.

I saw mountains including the Swiss Alps! I took river cruises along the Seine River in Paris and the Rhine River in Germany and took a gondola ride in Venice! I saw castles in Germany and windmills in Amsterdam. I saw the Mona Lisa up close and personal and went inside the famed Notre Dame Cathedral. If that wasn’t enough, the Lord even allowed me to start my trip by visiting the London Olympic stadium!

I’ve come back with stories, videos, and memories galore! The butterfly in me is still glowing and rejoicing. The reporter in me had her iPhone in one pocket and her camera in the other pocket. I was ready to record and document all the sights and sounds at a moment’s notice so that I could report back to my friends and family about how wonderful the trip was.

God’s favor was upon me so much so that members from the tour group noticed and remarked that I was “lucky”. I had to say, “I’m blessed!”

I could go on and on about how Amazing the trip was, but I’d like to share part of the reason why I went in the first place.

Back when I was 15, my parents gave my sister and me the incredible gift of a trip to Italy and Greece with my high school. It was a beautiful trip (and that’s when I got to go to the Olympic stadium in Athens) but it left me longing to go back to Italy. As I grew up, I dreamed of going back and just wandering around the quaint and narrow streets of Italy much like Belle does in France in “Beauty and the Beast”.

But the timing was never right. I went on to travel all around the world through work, vacation, and missions but Italy was still on my mind.

A few years ago, I was at a sleepover with a few church friends and they asked the question, “What would you do if you weren’t afraid?” The only thing I could think to say was, “I’d go to Italy by myself.”

To think that I mustered up the courage to GO to Italy and all throughout Europe just a few weeks ago, is simply awe-inspiring for me. I faced down one of my fears and went. And God honored me, protected me, and allowed me to see more of His beauty and splendor than I could have ever imagined.

Which brings me back to the video above. You’re looking at one very satisfied woman of God in that video! (I’m also freezing because it was windy out on the deck, and I also had to shoot it with my regular camera so I didn’t have the benefit of using my front-facing camera to see where I was aiming, but I digress).

There is something so special and empowering about facing down your fears and letting God walk you through them. I pray that you will all experience that in your lives.

Please remove the limits off of God! Let Him be God in your life! Just watch what He will do. Let Him Amaze you!

And yes, it took me lots of years to finally get back to Italy, but it was worth the wait!

Many blessings to you and many happy adventures even in your own neck of the woods!

Greetings from my Epic European Vacation

I’ve just come back from traveling through some of the major cities of Europe such as Venice, Paris, Florence, London, Munich, and Amsterdam. God allowed so many of my dreams to come true during this trip. I am amazed by His love for me and by how beautiful His world is! It really is Miraculous and Lovely!

I took some time to record some short, encouraging videos from many of these cities. I pray that they will bless you!  The video above was shot in Munich, Germany where I was reminded to let God lead you and surprise you!

Here are links to a few more videos:

Don’t give up in the middle of your story! It gets better!

We must go through the valley to stand upon the mountaintop of God!

I stand in awe of all of the beauty God has created!

7 Myths About Short-term Missionaries Debunked

atlas-62742_640

I thought I’d have some fun this week debunking some common myths that people have about short-term missionaries. I hope you enjoy this list. Perhaps it may even help give you a fresh perspective on missions.

  1. They all like to fly. Not so. Some have to battle the jitters to jump on planes. For others, a missions trip is the first time they’ve ever left their home country and gotten a stamp in their passport.
  2. They’ve all felt called to missions since childhood. Wrongo! I can speak from experience. I didn’t grow up learning about missionaries. I never dreamed I would go on even one trip, let alone five.
  3. They’re all fearless. Nope. Many go with fear and trembling. They have to push past the fear of insects, safety concerns, and leaving behind loved ones.
  4. They’re all “people” people. Think again. Some of us are 100 percent introverts. We don’t necessarily like the spotlight or being center stage. We just have a passion to help others. We’re daring to step out of our comfort zone and saying, “Here am I Lord, send me!”
  5. They all have rich relatives that finance their trips. As if! Yes, we’re grateful for any and all donations we’re blessed with. But many skimp and save and spend hours organizing creative fundraisers to help raise support. Others forgo spending money on other items to pay for their whole trip on their own.
  6. They’re all seasoned believers and mature in their faith. Wrong again. Some are just starting out their faith journey. Others are still working through doubts, fears, insecurities, and a myriad of questions. We’re all a work in progress.
  7. They’re all serious and don’t know how to have fun. Are you kidding me? Gather together a group of adventurous, like-minded folks out on a mission to help impact the world for Christ and see how much fun we can have! Laughter is good medicine. After long days out in the field, it’s great to unwind as a family.

Did I miss anything? Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below!

“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:35-38)

An Ode to My Short-term Missionary Teammates!

basheertome / Foter / Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 Generic (CC BY 2.0)

I’ve met some incredibly brave souls during my various short-term missions trips. I’d like to take a moment to share some of the obstacles they faced and overcame, with the help of Jesus. My prayer is that if you are on the fence about going on a short-term missions trip, you will be encouraged by hearing about some of the giants they faced down in order to answer the call to “Go Ye”. Blessings!

What does a short-term missionary look like? So glad you asked! Take a look in the mirror. You might just be looking at one.

There’s nothing super special about short-term missionaries in and of themselves. They are ordinary folks just like you. They have jobs and families, are students and professionals, and many have to trust God to provide the finances for their trips. Lots and lots of prayer is involved before they ever get on the plane!

My teammates over the years have inspired me. It’s been an honor serving with them! Here’s a glimpse of what a few of them had to contend with during our trips:

Age is Really Just a Number – I’ve had teammates as young as 12 (accompanied by a parent) and some going on their first trip in their 60s! If you’re worried that you’re too young or too old to go, rest assured that God is well aware of your age and He isn’t fazed by it!

Not Always What the Doctor Ordered – One of my brave teammates went on a trip while being on chemo for a certain condition she had. Another went while battling mononucleosis. Still others have gone despite being allergic to bees or having extreme allergies. Of course, always check with your doctor first, but know that when God calls He also protects you!

There’s No Distance Between Family – Some of my teammates have temporarily left behind spouses and teens. Others have left behind their kids as young as 2 years old with caring family members. It’s never easy to leave your loved ones behind, but we go knowing that God is protecting our families while we’re away!

Faith Trumps Fear – Some of my teammates have pushed past extreme fears of insects or of being on long flights. Others have gone despite not getting the emotional support from their family, friends, or church. It’s not always easy to say, “Yes!” to missions, but oh what joy it is to be in the center of God’s will for your life!

What is God saying to you about your possible future in missions? To read more about how to decide what kind of trip to go on, feel free to read Short-term Missions Trips 101.
